Dell computers have decided to enter the battle for the mini laptop war by releasing photos of their latest micro computer - the Mini-Inspiron.

Dell chief executive Michael Dell was recently photographed at a company conference with the new laptop, forcing the manufacturers to post pictures of the micro computer on the Dell website blog.

The pictures show an 8.9in screen with an integrated webcam, whilst insider information tells of an Intel Atom processor and choice of Windows XP Home and Linux Ubuntu operating systems. Prices are expected to be just under $500, allowing Dell to target the competitive yet ultimately lucrative low cost market.

Dell has given no specific details on a release date for the laptop, though further information is expected from the Taiwan based Computex Festival which kicks off today.
