Gphone from Google to Challenge Apple iPhone?

Reports in the tech community suggestthat Google is close to announcing the release of software and services which will enable mobile phone handset manufacturers to create Google powered phones - with projections that they could hit the market by as early as mid-2008! The Wall Street Journal has suggested that the Google-powered phones will use several existing and popular applications such as Google Maps, YouTube and Gmail. Unlike the Apple iPhone however, it is believed that Google is planning to make the phone’s software open source, which will enable independent software developers the code to produce their own applications to run on the platform - much in the same way that users can build applications for Social Networking sites such as Facebook.
An official announcement is expected in the next couple of weeks and follows on from Google extending its reach beyond browser and text-based, pay-per-click web search advertising into a variety of new markets, such as online video, television, print and radio advertising.

The Dell Latitude D430 is a notebook for business users with a practical 60GB of storage space matched with an impressive battery life. Tests showed that under light use a six-cell battery would last 3 hours and 55 minutes or 1 hours and 56 mins under intensive use which is pretty good going for the business user on the move.
